Management
I have had a few experiences related to management including working with the NRECA Health Management Services team for 4 summers, as the UT iCook 4H Campus Coordinator overseeing 10-15 undergrad and graduate volunteers, and in the DI Management rotation at UT Medical Center.
As part of my Master’s, I completed a large thesis teaching 6 weeks of nutrition education to 167 children ages 8-12. The children also participated in art activities including the painting of 360 ceramic plates. The study resulted in those children who did nutrition-related art activities learning more than those who did not. The manuscript is currently under review by the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior. The experience provided me with valuable skills and mastery of multiple competencies including:
-
Curriculum development and material creation
-
Program management and coordination
-
Financial management, budgeting, and funding acquisition
-
Personnel training and management (17 undergraduate volunteers)
-
Statistical analysis
-
Evaluating methods of dietary assessment, performing and training others in the 24-hour recall process
-
Partnership building and recruitment
Research and Analysis
I held two different GRA positions on respective research projects during my Master's. Per these positions and as a member of the ICAN Lab under the direction of Dr. Sarah Colby, I participated in grant writing, recruitment, program implementation, assessments, data analysis, and article writing. For my own Master's Thesis project I additionally had to obtain IRB approval, and the manuscript is currently under review for publication.

Communications
My Bachelor's of Fine Arts from Virginia Tech provided me with experience with various media communication formats including website design, infographic, visual arts, installation, sculptural, and vidographic. My Master's work provided training on manuscript, report, and grant writing as well as further web experience through iCook and the UT Nutrition website. UT also provided a number of public speaking opportunities the further develop my presentation skills and competency.
Skill Areas
The following is a list of just a few highlighted skill areas. Despite having to check the "0-2 years experience" box on any job application, I have a wide variety of skills aquired through many internships and volunteerships over the course of my 8 years in school. Not all my experiences fit or can be effectively represented on an official resume.
